PokerSnowie Review: AI Trainer, Not a Bot

PokerSnowie is a trainer. It was built from a self-learning neural network rather than a solver, and it grades your decisions, suggests alternatives and plays against you. It does not play on real-money tables.

What it is

How it works

The engine learned its strategy by playing itself over huge numbers of hands. You import hand histories and it marks each decision as correct or an error, with an estimate of the cost. You can also play practice hands against it, get a live “advice” evaluation in training mode, and study scenario sets it generates.

Strengths

• Fast, simple feedback on your own hands.
• Practice against a consistent, reasonably strong opponent.
• Runs on ordinary hardware.

Weaknesses

• Its strategy is an approximation and differs from solver output in known ways; players who study both find disagreements.
• Uses a limited set of bet sizes, so its verdicts on sizing are coarse.
• Development has been slower than that of solver-based tools in recent years.

Not a bot

The advice feature works on hands inside the trainer, not on live tables. Using any tool’s advice during real play is RTA and is banned by rooms; see bot vs RTA.
